William Harvey was an English physician, doctor and scientist during the Scientific Revolution who is credited with explaining how the heart circulates blood throughout the body. He was born in his house in Folkestone, Kent. Harvey was born to Thomas and Joan Harvey on April 1, 1578. He at first had discovered that the veins had valves but then expanded the theory to include the question of the motion of blood. He made many conclusion based upon observations of animal subjects. He soon had a conclusion that blood was recycled and not produced constantly. However, many of Harvey's discoveries had little effect on general medical practice at the time.
