The Sassanid Empire was founded by Ardashir I. In making this empire, Sassanid rulers, took the title of Shāhanshāh (King of Kings), and became the central overlords. Though, the Sassanids, like the Parthians, fought constantly with the Roman Empire.

      The main exports of the Sassanids were silk, woolen and golden textile, carpets and rugs, skin, leather, and pearls from the Persian gulf.
