Spice Trade

The discovery of new trade routes by Vasco De Gama led to an increase in the trade of spices from Asia to Europe. There were many attempts to monopolize the spice trade by the Dutch especically that of cinnamon and cloves.

The spice trade from India attracted the attention of the Ptolemaic dynasty, and subsequently the Roman empire.
