SlaveryThis is a featured page

Slavery is a social system in which slaves, often captured, are forced to work. The common usage often refers to chattel slavery, in which slaves are treated as property to a person, corporation, or government. One of the most well-known systems of chattel slavery was the Atlantic Slave Trade, in which native Africans were seized from the interior of the continent, transported by European settlers to the New World and forced to work, usually in large fields.
