Sumerians were the creators of the first Mesopotamian civilization. The Sumerian cities were surrounded by walls. Uruk was encircled by a wall, and had towers along the wall every 30 to 35 feet. They built their homes and buildings out of mud bricks; they had little stone and wood. They viewed kingship as divine in origin.
The River Valley Civilizations include the Nile River Civilization, Indus River Civilization, Tigris and Euphrates river civilization, and Huang He (Yellow) River Civilization. These civilizations didn't necessarily meet all the requirements to be considered a civilization, such as a complex government, organized religion, or written language, but they might have had have an individual as a leader or specialized labor, such as farming. For example, the Tigris-Euphrates civilization became familiar with bronze and copper and had kings, statues, and an alphabet.
