Mexican Revolution - Mr. Thomas' World History Class

The Mexican Revolution was a bloody 10-year Civil War. It was a violent thing that happened because of authoritarian modernazation (1910-1920). The result was a new sense of nationalism and pride, many reforms (mainly in the 1930's), and an institutionalized that took over the presidency and remained in power in the mid 1900's. This is one of two events that launched Latin America into the 20th century and set in motion trends that would determine alot of the region's history. The Mexican Revolution was also influenced by another major event in 1914; the outbreak of World War 1. At the end of this war the US was seen as a dominant power (replacing Britain politically and economically). Latin Americans could not ignore this reality, which led to a great change in Mexico's economic and political options.
