Judaism started in 1300 BC, in the country of Israel. It is a monotheistic religion founded by Abraham. Judaism believes in a god called Yahweh - their only god. They believe that Yahweh knows all, is omnipotent, and is everywhere at anytime. Along with Yahweh they believe the Messiah, a person that would unify and make peace in the world, came from the family of David, and is not Jesus. The Jewish collection of religious texts is called the Tanakh. Some religious texts of Judaism are the Talmud, Torah, and Midrash. The Torah has more than 613 laws, but The Ten Commandments are most important. Many believers are called Jews, but others in Islam go by Secular Jews (they do not believe in God or other religious values). Christianity originated from the Jewish faith in the first century AD.
