Italy is a peninsula, in southern Europe, that is surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea, Tyrrhenian Sea, Adriatic Sea, Ligurian Sea, and Ionian Sea. To the north Italy borders France, Switzerland, Austria, and Slovenia. The capital of Italy is Rome, and some major cities are Venice, Milan, Florence, Sicily, and Naples.
