Hammurabi was born iHammurabi - Mr. Thomas' World History Classn 1810 B.C. and died in 1750 B.C. After inheriting the throne from his father Sin-muballit in 1792 B.C., Hammurabi led a few decades of peace which resulted in Babylon becoming stronger. During these decades of peace, Hammurabi had a series of public works take place, which included heightening city walls and expanding temples. The Elam empire attempted to make war with the Babylonian Empire, and this resulted the defeated of the Elamites in 1763 B.C. After conquering much of what was left of Mesopotamia besides Aleppo and Qatna, Hammurabi united all his Mesopotamian land under his rule. Hammurabi was known as the 6th King of Babylon and the first Babylonian King where he extended Babylonian control to Mesopotamia. Hammurabi is famous for Hammurabi's Code. When Hammurabi died, the reins of his empire were passed on to his son, Samsulluna, in 1750 B.C.
