Friedrich Engels, a German social scientist and philosopher, born on November 28, 1820, was the partner of Karl Marx in making the communist theory. Engels spent much of his time between Prussia and Manchester, England (the latter of which was the home of his fathers textile firm at which Engels worked at multiple times in his life.) Friedrich Engels is accredited with writing The Conditions of the Working Class in England in 1844 and was co-author with Karl Marx for The Communist Manifesto. Engels died of cancer on August 5, 1895.
