France is located in Western Europe between Spain and Germany. The word "France" comes from the latin word Francia. France means, "Land of the Franks". During the post classical era, many important things happened in France. One example was the Hundred Years War, which lasted from 1337 to 1453. An important emperor of the frankish empire during this time was Charlemagne.
