The town and commune that lies in present day France. Found by Duke William I of Aquitaine in 910 A.D. The monastary became the grandest in Europe. Clunaic influences lasted from the second half of the 10th century to early 12 century. The Cluny library was one of the most important during the middle ages, but was sacked by the Huguenots in 1562.
