Map of Triangular TradePortugal created a new type of economy in Africa: slave trade. Africans received goods from the Portuguese who provided the rulers with slaves from other parts of the coast. The Portuguese traded slaves not only within Africa but with the New World. The migration of the slaves was called the Middle Passage, a horrible journey from Africa to the Americas. The trade between Portugal, Africa, and the Americas was called the Triangular Trade, a 3 point trading loop for slaves and other valuable goods.
