Absolute MonarchyThis is a featured page

An Absolute monarchy is a monarchical form of government where the monarch has the ultimate power to rule his or her land and its citizens freely, with some laws or legally-organized direct opposition in force. In an absolute monarchy, there is no constitution or body of law that is drawn up by popular sovereignty. These monarchies are bred from birth to be well-trained supreme rulers. Theoretically, the absolute monarchs have total power over all of his people, including the aristocracy and the clergy. Though these monarchies claim to have supreme power, some have governmental bodies which are there for advisable purposes but can be dissolved by the discretion of the king or queen.

Louis XIV is often regarded as one of the most well-known absolute monarchs.
