Welcome! This is a website that everyone can build together. It's easy!

Mr. Thomas' World History Class Wiki Project

NOTICE: Most of the pages have now been organized into different sections as opposed to periods. For the purpose of convenience, please don't organize the pages by period any further. We're already in the process of filtering out the posts of those that didn't read this message.

Please use pages from the "Pages that need deletion" section instead of creating a new page. Edit the content, rename the page, and move it to the appropriate section.

~This site is designed and edited by the students in Mr. Thomas' world history class. Throughout the year, we will be adding content and additional links to the site, featuring relevant material from our lessons.~

Here are some tips to help make the wiki look clean and keep Nick from throwing another hissy:

-The standard font is 12 pt. Arial, with the standard color being black. Please refrain from using any other font or color unless you're pointing out important works, buildings, or other media. After checking this, align your text to the left.
-Make sure that your page is placed in the right section and placed in alphabetical order.
-When preparing to make a new page, do a quick search to make sure that the same topic isn't already active.
-For the love of all things holy, make sure that the page is actually worth posting. No disrespect, but posting a page to define the word "spoiled" is inexcusable.
-It is commonplace that members edit and/or raid pages. If you're going to do it, at least make it funny.
-Avoid using large images. If you're going to shrink an image, remember to hold Shift while shrinking to keep the proportions constrained. This will keep the picture quality intact.
-Although there is always bias in any statement, please do your best to keep major biases out of the research pages.
-You won't be drawn and quartered, but avoid using images from Wikipedia. It is recommended that you do a Google image search.

Most of us know that this wiki is pretty cool, right? A break from textbooks and lectures, a place to socialize and learn history at the same time, a place to sling mud. Anyway, if we want to keep it, it is our responsibility to keep our wiki tidy and effective. There are several ways to do this and I will outline a few of them.

1. It is important to keep our wiki at a high standard of quality. Striveto set the bar and help others do the same, information-wise.

2. Organizeation exponentialy multiplies what we can get out of it. Try to keep each sub-level of organization in the heirarchy alphabetically organized. When you make a page, it is hardly a lot of effert to simply move it to its proper location.

3. Cross-referencing is one of the things that make wikis in general very powerful. Every now and then make sure you hit the "Suggest Links" button on your page to keep the links current to all the topics covered.

4. It is important to keep our factual and opinionated threaeds and/or pages seperate. I sugest thet none go on the home page as has been the case so far. Instead someone whould make either one big "Social" page on which we will all post our shout-outs, make seperate spaces for social threads in each period, or a compination of the two.

This will not really take up much of your time, people! So whenever you have extra time when you finish editing for the day, just do a little in one of these directions, and it will all add up. Besides, doing so will earn you brownie points with Mr. Thomas. Those are always good. If anyone would like to be an unofficail Moderator and dedecate a little more time than usual to this sites upkeep, state yourself and do so.

~Have relative fun wiki-ing~ XD
